Ethiopia Gutity Natural
The Gutity Natural Lot is produced at the Gutity Washing Station station in Yirgacheffe. Approximately 600 farmers deliver cherry to this washing station, their farms are small and sit at 2,200 meters above sea level. This lot consists of the Kurume variety.
Once the cherries arrive at the Gutity Washing Station, they are placed in water for sorting and removing floaters. The cherries are then placed on raised beds made of wood posts that are covered in burlap, and sun-dried for 14-20 days. During this time, the cherries are often moved to ensure an even drying.
Snap Specialty Coffee manages the Gutity station. They are committed to enhancing farmer livelihoods and elevating coffee quality. Through their comprehensive approach, they provide training to over 6,000 farmers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to improve nursery management, coffee production, and processing. Farmers receive free or low-cost inputs, including fertilisers, sprays, and pesticides, to support their profitability in the face of rising costs.
