Coffee with a Purpose: Partnering with Laurel House for Warm Hearts 2026

One of my favorite things about running a local coffee company is that we get to be part of the community in more ways than just serving coffee. In 2023, we started our Warm Hearts campaign as a way to use something we make every day to support organizations doing meaningful work in our community. For the first two years, Warm Hearts supported Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Last year, we partnered with Mitzvah Circle, helping support their work with individuals and families throughout our area.
This year, we’re continuing to spread the warmth. For our 2026 campaign, we’re excited to announce our partnership with Laurel House, a local organization supporting individuals and families impacted by domestic violence throughout Montgomery County.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so it felt like the right time to introduce this year’s Warm Hearts recipient. Laurel House has been part of our local community for more than 40 years. What started in 1980 as a domestic violence shelter for women and their children has grown into a comprehensive organization providing support and resources to people throughout Montgomery County.
That includes a 24-hour hotline and textline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, children's programs, medical advocacy, legal support, crisis response, and education and prevention programs. Their work is centered on helping people take that first step toward a life free from violence, and making sure they have support along the way.
As a local business, we see every day how many different organizations, families, and individuals make up our community. We also know that some of the most important work happening here isn't always the most visible. Laurel House is doing that work every day, and we're grateful for the opportunity to help support it.

The Warm Hearts coffee roast, cold brew, and latte will be available during November and December, just in time for the holiday season. For every Warm Hearts bag of coffee sold, we’ll donate $5 to Laurel House. For every can of Warm Hearts cold brew sold, we’ll donate $1 to Laurel House. For every Warm Hearts latte sold at our cafe, we’ll donate $1 to Laurel House. So whether you're picking up a bag for yourself, grabbing coffee for the office, or looking for a local gift this holiday season, your purchase can help support an organization right here in Montgomery County. We were able to raise $5,000 in 2025, $11,000 in 2024, and $15,000 our first year. (*Our first two campaigns extended an additional 2 months.) It’s a big goal, but we are hoping to raise $8,000 this year for Laurel House!
We've always believed that coffee can be about more than what's in the cup. It's about the people who grow it, the people who make it, the people who drink it, and the communities we're lucky enough to be part of. We're really excited to see what we can do together with Warm Hearts this year.
Thank you for helping us give back, one cup at a time!

I love Backyard Beans coffee and I love that you give back to the community with the Warm Hearts program. Helping the communities we live in is especially helpful now with inflation rising and all the other problems that also make it so important to vote in the November 3 election!!!
