Impact Reports: Why Do They Matter?

When I want to make a purchase these days, one of the first things I look for is the company’s values.

If I can’t find a page, or even a sentence, pointing to their mission, vision, and values, I am likely to move on. Where we spend our money matters. Supporting local businesses matters. And choosing companies that align with your values matters. While we may not all share the same priorities, recognizing what’s important to you and supporting businesses that reflect those values is a powerful choice.

From the start, we’ve done our best to maintain transparency at Backyard Beans, doing our best to communicate our values through action. That’s why we are proud to have put together our first official Impact Report for 2024 - a look back at the year detailing how we made a difference for our team members, our industry, our customers, and our community.

This report isn’t just about what we say—it’s about what we do. We talk a lot about sourcing coffee responsibly, caring for the environment and our community, and upholding high quality standards. This Impact Report is our way of showing you exactly how we’ve followed through. We hope it not only informs but also inspires both businesses and individuals to consider the impact of their decisions.

In this first report you’ll see the ways we’re working to use our business as a force for good. This is just the beginning—there’s always room to grow, and we’re committed to doing better every year.

Thank You

Finally, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our community. None of this would be possible without you—our customers, partners, and team members—who believe in what we’re building. There are moments when I wonder if people truly care about the way we run Backyard Beans, and time and time again, you remind me that you do. Your support, engagement, and commitment hold us accountable to the high standards we’ve set for ourselves. Thank you for being part of this work and for keeping us accountable to the high standards we’ve set for ourselves!
