Get Outside Wrap-Up: Thanks for Hitting the Trail with Us!

Hi friends, Laura here from Backyard Beans. Summer flew by with hot days, cool pools, and plenty of iced coffee—hopefully in your hand. As we wrap up our Get Outside Campaign, I want to sincerely thank everyone who gave our Get Outside blend a try. Because of you, we’ve raised $4,700 so far for Wissahickon Trails! That’s a meaningful impact supporting the green spaces and waterways that make our local backyard such a special place to live, work, and explore.

And we’re so close to our goal of selling out completely—it’s not quite over yet! There are still a couple of days left to snag a bag at our cafes. Every purchase helps!

I love being able to use our business as a “force for good” (B corp jargon), and part of that is supporting our community. We work to support the people and places where coffee originates, and we also support work being done here in our “backyard.” Looking back to the beginning of the year, I knew I wanted to use our next giving campaign to support our local environment. It didn’t take much digging to learn we could do that through Wissahickon Trails, a member of the 1% for the Planet initiative doing good work here in Montgomery County.

We kicked off Get Outside on Earth Day and kept the momentum going all summer. Along the way, we hosted two community walks starting from our Ambler café to explore parts of the Wissahickon Trail. I enjoyed exploring a new trail with my daughter, and connecting with likeminded folks in the community. We embarked with cold brews, talked with neighbors, spotted wildflowers, and remembered why these trails matter so much. It’s not just background scenery—it’s where we reconnect, reset, and build community. If you haven’t been for a walk in the woods lately, this might be your sign to…get outside (couldn’t help myself).

With $5 from every bag donated to Wissahickon Trails, your coffee was making a positive impact far beyond your morning brew.

What Your Support Helped Do

We were able to donate $5 from every bag of Get Outside sold to Wissahickon Trails – thanks to your support, we’ve already raised $4,700 to help care for these special places. Your purchases supported:

  • Trail maintenance and improvements to keep paths safe and accessible.

  • Habitat restoration and native plant efforts to strengthen local ecosystems.

  • Water quality and watershed health projects benefiting the 64-square-mile area draining into Wissahickon Creek.

  • Community education and partnerships that bring neighbors together in stewardship.

In short, every cup you brewed helped keep the trails healthy and welcoming :)

About Wissahickon Trails

Wissahickon Trails is a nonprofit dedicated to caring for the land and water within the Wissahickon watershed in Montgomery County. Their work combines preservation, scientific monitoring, restoration, and community partnerships so both people and wildlife can thrive. We’re honored to support their mission and encourage you to follow their projects, volunteer opportunities, and trail updates.

Keep the Momentum Going

Though the campaign is ending soon, the opportunity to get outside and support these trails continues. Here are a few ways to stay involved:

We’re down to the wire—only a couple days left to sell out! Every bag sold adds $5 more to Wissahickon Trails. Grab yours from the cafés and help us cross the finish line strong. Thanks From Me, the Beans Team, and Wissahickon Trails!

See you outside (and in the café).

— Laura Adams & the Backyard Beans Team
