The Story Behind the Coffee

Every year we can get coffees from Luis Alberto Balladarez is a good year! His coffees are world-renowned, and one is hard-pressed to find a better coffee from Nicaragua. That is why we have been buying his micro-lots for the past 5 years.

Luis Alberto Balladarez has a few farms: Finca Un Regalo De Dios, La Bendicion, and La Prometido. This Pacamara is from La Bendicion. He is an innovator specializing in planting unique varieties and tailoring the processing method for each variety. He extensively cups in his own lab to separate or blend coffees. In fact, he has placed many times in the Cup of Excellence (COE) competition, and he won 1st place a few years back. His accolades—and his coffee—speak volumes about his skill! 

Pacamara is a cross between Pacas and the large-bean Maragogipe, evident in the bean size. This variety, too, has done very well in Central American cupping competitions. We really liked the honey process this year on the cupping table. It is a fun, unique and fruity cup profile. We are tasting jammy fruit flavors, juicy melon, candied nuts, and florals. This delicious coffee is sure to please the coffee lover looking for a unique and fruity flavor profile.
